Reasons to remove a tree

Why a Tree Would Need to be Removed

Diseased tree in Asheville NC
Trees add value and beauty to our homes and our lives which is why it is necessary to maintain them to ensure that they are appropriately cared for as their mishandling is harmful to humans as well.

If dead trees are allowed to lie around at your house, soon pests will find homes in them and harm your other landscaping. If dead branches are not adequately taken care of, they can cause fatal incidents. These reasons are whytree trimming and tree removal are crucial aspects of keeping plants at home. So how can you know when you should have tree removed? Here are some signs that mean you may want to consider having the tree removed.

Recurring Health Problems
There are some trees that should be removed immediately. You will find some plants that are not wholly damaged, but a part of them is destroyed. If that part is greater or equal to half of the tree, then you should consider removing it. There are also some trees that are gradually decaying; these should be immediately removed as well. This is because the tree diseases are contagious and will start to harm other vegetation present at your home.

These steady decaying trees give a depressing vibe to your home as opposed to a fresh one which, coupled with the threat of pests, these reasons make the removal of such trees necessary.

Wilting
Leaning trees are an indicator of the onset of tree death. Wilting could be caused by various reasons some of which include low water or sensitivity to sunlight. It also indicates that the roots and trunk of the tree have become weakened and is on the verge of collapsing. Such collapse can prove to be fatal and thus the trees that show the much intensity of sway should be immediately removed.

Dead Branches
In addition to swaying trees, huge trees that have dead branches are also prone to prove hazardous to you and your health. Trees with dead branches are weakened and can fall and cause an accident which could prove to be fatal. If the branches fall, they can not only damage your house but can also cause damage to power lines if they are in their path. This is why dead branches should be immediately removed. Don’t let trees compromise your safety and your home’s structural integrity.

Hiring a Tree service company

There are a number of factors you should consider the next time you hire a professional tree service in Asheville, NC.  Below are the top areas you should factor into your research and decision.
  1. Is the tree service company licensed and insured?  They should be licensed to run a business in the state of North Caroline; and, they should be fully insured, which means both liability insurance that would cover damage to your property during the performance of their tree work and insurance to cover their employees if one or more of them should sustain an accident while on your property.  The latter insurance is called workers compensation and is critical to protect you, as the property owner, while they work on your property.  Otherwise, if someone has an accident on your property, your own homeowner's insurance policy will need to cover the expenses.
  2. Does the tree service company hold the proper credentials and qualifications.  These credentials include membership (and even certificates) from industry recognized tree care associations, such as the Tree Care Industry Association and the International Arborist Society.  Further, an accreditation with the Asheville Better Business Bureau is also a good thing to check for each tree company you consider.
  3. Do they provide you with a written estimate and details all the work to be performed?  A written estimate is a must in any home-based services.   Some companies will inflate their price after the job is complete when no written estimate was provided beforehand.  Always get a written estimate prior to agreeing to the work.
  4. Did you get at least 3 estimates and compare them carefully?   Always get at least three estimates so you can meet and evaluate each company.  Further, all the estimates may not be the same, offering the exact services.  Therefore, always compare and contrast the estimates to ensure you are looking at apples-to-apples.
  5. Did you check references?  Always ask for current references.  Current means within the last 1-3 months months - older references may not be relevant.  Further online sources, such as Facebook, Yelp, Google, etc. will help you further evaluate your options.

Regardless of what level of tree service work you need performed, from tree removal to tree trimming, always follow these guidelines when selecting a tree service company in Asheville NC.
